Guess Who Resigned Yesterday?
That's right, ME!
After a lengthy, nerve wracking wait, I got my job offer!
It felt even better than I expected it to!
The reality of a substantial salary increase, potential to earn a second bonus on top of the first guaranteed bonus, stock options, a stellar benefit package, and no more semi monthly pay checks, has my head spinning!
Yay for getting paid every two weeks!
And the best thing? This new company is smaller and focused on equality. No one has an office. Not upper management, not the CEO...NO ONE.
Coming from one of the largest banks in the nation where every low level manager, deserving or not, gets an office, this is refreshing.
Unlike my current CEO, the CEO of my new employer doesn't make 40 million dollars a goddamn year while cutting jobs left and right.
The whole culture of bureaucracy and corporate greed is almost non-existent at this place.
I am thrilled.
And you know what else? My days of working at giant, power hungry corporations are OVER.
The recent economic woes we're experiencing as a country has really changed the way I look at things and I have barely been able to conceal my contempt for the banking industry as a whole. I am over it and glad to be leaving! I don't know how these big wigs sleep at night and I don't understand how you can get to a place where your conscience can allow you to take home $40 mil while cutting the jobs of thousands of hard working people making less than $50,000 a year.
Thinking to myself about some recent layoffs we had, I came up with a figure. Had our CEO been willing to forgo at least 15 million dollars of his annual 40 million dollar bonus, he could have saved the jobs of those few hundred people who were let go. Why wasn't it worth it to him? Why wouldn't any person that fortunate sacrifice SOMETHING to help people retain employment in such a difficult, downtrodden economy?
Meanwhile, we've made more than one expensive, high profile acquisition this year. We can buy up companies but can't keep people employed.
Funny how that works.
Maybe I'm too sensitive, too idealistic...but these things trouble me greatly.
I probably don't even have to give my company's name for people to know who I'm talking about but that's ok. I won't name them directly but it's likely you know who these greedy bastards are just from the few hints I've dropped.
Ugh. I am disgusted with them. I'm not even keeping my bank accounts open with them after I'm gone. My deposits are going elsewhere you greedy fucks!
So it is with great pride that after 6 years of this fuckery, I am off to greener pastures!
After next week it's out with the old and in with the new...I am beyond excited!
